The Mount Mansfield Youth Basketball League (MMYBL) is a nonprofit organization which was formed to provide a safe, fun way for local girls and boys to learn the game of basketball. The league provides kids with the opportunity to learn their skills through participation in games as well as practices.
The league serves all of the communities in the Chittenden East school district.
MMYBL is divided into two distinct elements; Recreational League and Mini-Metro.
Rec League -- The Rec League is open to everyone in grades 1-8, regardless of skill level or prior experience. The goal of this league is to teach the fundamentals of the game and to have fun while getting on-court game experience. Teams in grades 3 - 8 practice one evening each week and play against other MMYBL Rec League teams on Saturdays. Grades 1 – 2 play and practice on Saturdays only.
All players receive equal playing time, regardless of skill level.
Mini Metro – For boys and girls in grades
5-8, these teams play at a higher level of competition, and compete against other Mini Metro teams in the greater Burlington area.
This program requires a tryout. Players are chosen for a team based upon their skill level. Depending on the numbers of kids and available coaches, mini metro cannot always keep every player trying out. Players not chosen for a team are welcomed and encouraged to join a Rec League team.
Players are expected to attend all practices and all games, including “away” games.
Practices are held twice a week. Usually in early evenings. Games are on Sundays between 11:00 and 4:00.
